You’ve just laid down for the night when suddenly doors slam and the curtains shift. The lights begin to flicker and a white mist forms in front of you. You shut your eyes and keep muttering, “ghosts aren’t real.” But then you open your eyes and realize that “harmless” mist has shifted into the form of a man, staring intensely at you, as he floats above your bed.

What causes ghostly experiences?

Are ghosts real?

Why do certain people report numerous ghostly encounters and others none?

For centuries these questions have intrigued, puzzled, and bedeviled science, skeptics, and even believers. Based on cutting-edge research and new theories, The Ghost Studies provides insight into some of life’s greatest mysteries.

This fascinating book is far more than a compilation of ghost stories. The Ghost Studies provides scientific explanations for paranormal occurrences, including:

  • New and exciting scientific theories that explain apparitions, hauntings, and communications from the dead.
  • The latest research on the role of energy and electricity in hauntings.
  • The role that emotions, bioenergetics, and the environment play in supernatural phenomena.
  • New research into why some individuals are more prone to ghostly encounters.

Dr. Seuss is racist says Librarian

Screen-Shot-2017-09-29-at-3.16.42-PMPhipps Soeiro, a Librarian at Cambridgeport Elementary School, has decided to reject a donation of ten Dr. Seuss books from the First Lady because they are in her view racist.

“Another fact that many people are unaware of is that Dr. Seuss’s illustrations are steeped in racist propaganda, caricatures, and harmful stereotypes.”

Having said that, she was photographed dressed as “Cat in the Hat”!!! Don’t let your politics keep books out of the hands of children.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” — Dr. Seuss

SAM_0044Charm bags, also known as mojo bags and gris-gris bags, may be the most popular style of amulet or talisman in the world today. Around the globe, they are crafted by people from many cultures and spiritual traditions and are created for many purposes. Until now there has been no definitive guide to the art of creating these magical power objects. The Magical Art of Crafting Charm Bags remedies this situation.

In my mailbox … or why my mailman hates me

Today, my poor mailman walked to my front door ( in the heat and humidity of Florida ) and dropped off 4 books. You just know he hates me…

SAM_0038

SAM_0046I can almost hear his grumbling even now. At any rate, Weiser was very good to me. The Weiser folks sent me a copy of a booklet celebrating their 60 years of publishing. It’s packed with quotes from many of the authors published by Weiser.

The books are “The Weiser Book of Occult Detectives” by Judika Illes, “The Witches Almanac” issue 37, and “The Magical Art of Crafting Charm Bags” by Leafar. As you know, the best time for reading a Weiser Book is during the Fall but these books will not  last that long — bwahahahahaa.

Review: Tarot Plain & Simple: The Only Book You’ll Ever Need

Tarot Plain & Simple: The Only Book You'll Ever NeedTarot Plain & Simple: The Only Book You’ll Ever Need by Leanna Greenaway

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I guess at this point I have read about 4 of Greenaway’s books. For the most part, I have enjoyed them and I’ve scored them in the 3 to 4 star range. As you can guess from the title, the book introduces the reader to the basics of Tarot.
I think that Greenaway covered the subject very well but I would like to have seen more. It was as if all of the tools were there but Greenaway came up just short of turning the key. For my money, I’d suggest Sasha Fenton’s “Fortune Telling by Tarot Cards” also published by Hampton Roads. I think Fenton gives you a little more bang for the buck.
That being said, “Tarot Plain & Simple” is a fine introduction to Tarot.

Hillary fiction?

I thought that I would leave the political stuff alone but I can resist this one. BTW, I have read that Amazon is deleting 1 star reviews of her book.

In my mailbox: Tarot Plain & Simple

Life after Irma is returning to normal. I missed getting the trash out my the road ( in my defense they did say that there was no trash pickup today — but there was). My neighbor’s mail was in my front yard ( I guess it blew out of his box — again). The mailman crammed a book into my mailbox. You know, my usual morning.

Thank you Weiser for the cool-looking book Tarot Plain & Simple by Leanna Greenaway. The book will be available October 1st.

I’m a little twisted

Is it just me or did anyone else hope for a “sharknado moment” every time a reporter covered the hurricane in the rain.
