Shark repellent fails on first try

Why is it always my home state of Florida? Why?

At any rate, people — magical magnets will not repel sharks, cure your arthritis, or decrease your body odor. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is …

“I got this for Christmas,” Zack said, showing us the green plastic band that looks like a watch with no face, “It is a shark band and it was supposed to keep sharks away and the first time I wore it, and I go surfing a lot, but the first time I wore it- I get bit.”

If you really want something that works, you need a ju ju bag.

J.K. Rowling confirms she’s writing two new novels

Clumsy spells: Daniel in a scene with Jim Broadbent, who plays Horace Slughorn

Hmmmmmmmmmm ? I wonder what Rowling is cooking? She has confirmed that she is working on two more books. As I understand it, these are not Fantastic Beast stories. Well, I for one wouldn’t mind another Harry Potter story.

Foggy Florida

It’s a foggy morning in my little spot of the world. The power went out twice yesterday after a power pole was knocked down in the fog. I was in the middle of updating my Manjaro Linux and was, to say the least, a little upset. That being said, my Linux system is working nicely.

Mom has not been well and I have spent a lot of the Holiday season taking her to Doctor appointments and a little shopping. She has a new doctor and I hope that this one will work out.

I didn’t decorate very much this year and most of my decorations have been put away. It was a bit of a depressing year. We have lost so many celebrities and artists this year. I guess I am at that strange period of life when life seems to take away more things than it gives.

Hopefully 2017 will be a year that I can get myself a little more organised..

Have a happy and safe New Year!

In my mailbox: Black City Demon

Last night, I received another book in the mail. I’m like a kid at Christmas when the delivery guy drops a package on my porch. This time I received a copy of “Black City Demon” by Richard Knaak and published by Pyr. I want to thank the folks at Pyr for sending me this free advanced reading copy. The book will be available March 14th 2017.

51dw9g1hyel-_sx329_bo1204203200_Since he became the guardian of the Gate between our world and Feirie sixteen hundred years ago, Nick Medea, once Saint George, has battled to keep the darkest Feirie–the Wyld–from invading the mortal plane. With the dragon an unwilling part of him, Nick maintains balance between realms, often at great cost to him and those nearest to him.

Nick and his ragtag confederates–including the shape-shifter Fetch and Nick’s reincarnated love, Claryce–have battled the Wyld, but mortals as sinister as the darkest Feirie. Now, with Prohibition in full swing and bootlegger wars embattling Chicago, a murderous evil born of the mortal world has turned its attention to the power of the Gate…and Nick himself.

Why I hate Windows

book-1851268_960_720I use Windows and Manjaro Linux. I have in the past used several Linux OS’ and I’ve used Windows since Windows 3.1. I don’t just dislike what Windows has become — I hate it.

This morning, I sat down with my coffee to check my emails. My computer seemed a little slow but my emails eventually arrived. I decided to boot up my favorite MMO Guild Wars 2 and it failed to connect. How odd? On my third try, I finally connected to Guild Wars and noticed a little lag. The little lag turned into “completely frozen”.  The culprit Windows was updating.

Windows had sucked the life out of my bandwidth with “no” warning. At least with Manjaro  tells me that updates are available and I download my updates when I want them.  Come on Windows, you can do better than that …
