( 5 stars out of 5 )

Jacob survives a devastating fire that destroys his home and kills his daughter.  Joshua, Jacob’s twin brother, returns to bring even more turmoil and heartbreak to Jacob’s life.

Nicholson gives us several deep characters in this dark and very disturbing psychological thriller. I thought that I had a grasp on the book early on. However; the line, “The Polaroid portrayed him and Joshua in matching blue sailor suits” threw me.

Damn you Scott Nicholson and your wicked curve balls.

Each time I thought that I solved the story another clue would shatter that theory. Finally the story ends with a twist or should I say twists. I couldn’t have enjoyed it more.

I give it a solid 5 out of 5 stars.
