During archaeological investigations at the site of the Roman Theatre in Cartagena over more than a decade many important finds were made, including pottery from the period when there was a small Islamic settlement there. These pieces include fragments of a beautiful jug decorated with patterns painted in manganese. Also featured on the jug is a “Seal of Solomon.” This is another name for the Star of David. A plant with drooping white flowers is known by the same name and it is said that scars that form as the stems of the plant decay resemble the pattern of ancient seals.
