My mailbox 1- 28-12

28 Jan

A couple of books landed in my mailbox this week, much to the chagrin of my over-worked mailman. “Shakespeare’s Lady” by Alexa Schnee (Guideposts) and “Shadow’s Master” by Jon Sprunk (PYR – link).

Both books look very interesting, I think that I’ll try “Shakespeare’s Lady” (that sounds so wrong). “Shadow’s Master” comes out in late March so I’ll hold on to that title for a while.

I also bought a copy of Sylvia Browne’s “Afterlives of the Rich and Famous” because I am a idiot. While I know who she is, I haven’t read or seen any of her work so I thought that I would try this book. What a pile of crap! Oh well, I consider it an expensive lesson in life.

Sylvia Brown is a classic case of someone who started with genuine ability and then sold out as she became a name brand. Last I heard, she was charging $750 for a half hour telephone conversation. When you do that, you have to tell people something. You can’t say that you didn’t pick up on anything, but the charge will be showing up on your credit card. Now, she just mass produces crap new agey stuff and supporting her industry.

So, who’s she claiming she’s talking to these days?

Rock Hudson, Princess Diana, John Lennon, Heath Ledger, Marilyn Monroe, etc

She talks about who they met in heaven, their reactions to being dead, etc.

She should have spent a few minutes on Wikipedia and she would have learned that Marlon Brando (April 3, 1924 – July 1, 2004) and Roddy McDowell (17 September 1928 – 3 October 1998) were alive when Rock Hudson (November 17, 1925 – October 2, 1985) passed away so they couldn’t have been waiting for him in heaven. ooopppps

Perhaps she should be classifying her books as fiction, because she’s making this stuff up.
